100 Things

I’ve been blog surfing a bit today and have seen this done on several other blogs, so I thought I would give it a shot. Can’t hurt, right? And right now, its occupying my gray-matter and keeping it out of dangerous territory.

So, here we go!

  1. I guess I’ll start with favorites first because that’s always an easy one, right? My favorite smell is wet paint on canvas. Something about it says LIFE to me.
  2. My favorite food, which I think I’ve already mentioned, is lobster.
  3. Favorite Movie? An artsy little film entitled  Koyaanisquatsi - Life out of Balance.
  4. Favorite book - The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
  5. Favorite day of the week? - Today
  6. Favorite flavor of ice-cream? Ben & Jerry’s New York Triple Fudge Chunk
  7. Funny thing, I don’t eat much ice-cream, or any other sweets for that matter. But when I do, it has to be chocolate.
  8. I’ve lived in two states my entire life. This one, and the one I grew up in. I’ve traveled to several other states including California, Colorado, Florida, Alabama and New Mexico.
  9. I met my current business partner, Cher, when I was in Florida. Her family was vacationing in the same condo complex.
  10. We’ve emailed back and forth religiously for 1.5 years, and communicated by phone before that.
  11. I’ve been to her home once, and hope to go back this summer.
  12. In grade school, I was so terribly shy that I purposely made myself sick the entire first two weeks of sixth grade, because it was a new school.
  13. I”m still terribly shy, but find that it hinders functionality in the real world, so I force myself out of my shell.
  14. I am 5′-4″ tall and weigh about 128 pounds, but I have a propensity for gaining weight quickly when I’m under a lot of stress.
  15. The most I ever weighed was 184, during my junior year of college.
  16. It took 2 years go get all that weight off, and I work hard to never put it back on.
  17. I don’t smoke. I think its a nasty habit and it smells bad.
  18. I am a neat freak who’s been known to get out of bed with a raging temperature just so I can mop my floor in the bathroom.
  19. In the past six years, I’ve had 12 roommates. Many have gotten married and moved to Suburbia, some just moved on to places of their own.
  20. I still talk to or keep in touch with previous roommates.
  21. I have a television set that usually only gets turned on between midnight and 3 AM when I come home from work.
  22. I don’t understand people who think waitressing is a menial job. I love my job.
  23. I was a sophomore in college when my grams passed away
  24. She was my only living (known) relative.
  25. Although I have no brothers or sisters or other relatives, I’ve never really considered myself  “alone” in the world.
  26. I was left my grandmother’s estate, which I rented out until I graduated college. I sold it after graduation, and bought my loft in what was then an up and coming neighborhood, but is now booming.
  27. My loft has almost doubled in value over the past 3 years.
  28. If I didn’t have to pay taxes and association fees, I would probably quit waitressing and concentrate more on my art.
  29. My primary medium is mixed media collage and painting, but I do all sorts of art.
  30. A professor in college once referred to me as flighty, and it really agitated me. I am not flighty, I am simply very interested in a great deal of things.
  31. I’ve never really had a desire to “see the world” but if I did, I would want to go to The Himalayas and then Spain.
  32. I don’t own a car, but have considered purchasing a Prius.
  33. I like to go to the park
  34. My favorite time to go to the park, is in the winter, just as the sun is starting to rise.
  35. I’ve been known to stay up from Friday morning, until Sunday afternoon.
  36. I graduated college with a degree in Fine Arts and Design, which I lovingly refer to as “Do you want Fries with that” and a minor in Business Administration.
  37. I love to read, especially Historical Novels and anything having to do with Ancient History.
  38. My favorite Era in history is when the Romans ruled Britain.
  39. I am a prolific writer, and possess numerous journals filled with Haiku’s and poetry and thoughts.
  40. I never thought I would like blogging, but I’m beginning to see why its “addictive”.
  41. I am a terrible speller
  42. I was raised in an Assembly of God church, but am not a religious person
  43. I believe in God, I just don’t by all the religious hype
  44. The last relationship I had lasted almost 2 years, but ended when he realized I wasn’t ready for marriage.
  45. I haven’t been in a relationship since then, which is now 9 months ago, but that may be changing
  46. I have many self-conversations
  47. I have very long hair that is naturally curly (loose curls, not tight) that I wear up almost every day because of work
  48. I’ve only ever cut my hair once, and I cried for two weeks, missing it.
  49. I don’t think I will ever cut it again, but I could be wrong
  50. I was born with natural auburn hair.
  51. I remember when “raspberry” (dark purplish red hair) came into fashion I thought to myself “Finally! I’m in style!”
  52. I am not a fashionista. I have certain styles that I like but I dress to suit my mood.
  53. My current favorite outfit is the oh-so-soft pair of terry Juicy Couture sweatpants and top my my friend Dani gave me for Christmas 4 years go. I’ve almost warn them out.
  54. Most of the time, I’m in my work uniform. Black skirt or pants, white shirt, black bow-tie, black apron.
  55. I am one of the few single people I know who cooks more than she eats out.
  56. I love to cook and try new recipes
  57. My current favorite recipes are Indian foods
  58. I don’t buy a lot of groceries at once. I prefer to get my produce fresh as I need it, and I buy meats or fish as needed.
  59. I splurge on Starbucks twice a week
  60. But I don’t own a coffee maker
  61. I have a completely stocked “tea cabinet” which includes a Japanese tea set that my friend Paul brought back from Tokyo
  62. I collect paper (seriously)
  63. I also collect ribbons, broken jewelry and aluminium cans, and vintage textiles
  64. My favorite street in the world is State Street
  65. Although I live in a big city, went to college, and am fairly open minded about a lot of things, I have a lot of old-fashioned values
  66. I was a virgin until I was twenty-two
  67. I think I’m too “self” oriented to be a parent
  68. I also think I get grossed out too easily to be a parent
  69. My friends have kids, and I don’t mind being around them in short spans
  70. I really don’t celebrate holidays because I don’t have a family to celebrate them with, but if I did, probably Christmas would be my favorite
  71. I do put up a Christmas tree every year because the lights are all twinkly and pretty
  72. I’m not really a drinker. I have an occasional cocktail
  73. When I turned 21 I bought a bottle of Rum just because I could
  74. I ended up giving it to Dani 2 years later
  75. When I was in college, I could sleep for days on end, when we had breaks
  76. Now I sleep about 4 - 5 hours a night
  77. I bought my loft because when I was looking at places, I saw this one in the morning light in spring, at about 10 AM and fell in love with the way the light streams across the floors
  78. As far as lofts in Big City go, mine is really big. I have over 1500 square feet, where as many of my neighbors have less than 1200 and a few have less than 1000
  79. My favorite snack ever is Pickled Ginger
  80. I learned how to make it from a friend in College
  81. Ginger is great for your digestion
  82. I have an awesomely healthy digestive system
  83. I think I’m starting to get involved with someone who lives almost 800 miles away, but comes to my city quite frequently
  84. I am trying not to think about that, but it’s just not working
  85. I wonder where it will all go and how it will all work out
  86. My biggest fear in life is fire
  87. I always double and sometimes triple check to make sure my stove or my iron, or my dryer is off before I go to sleep
  88. I have never been afraid of living in a city by myself
  89. I have walked home from work on many summer nights
  90. I’m too cheap to pay for cab fare
  91. I am not a girlie-girl, but I love shoes, jewelry, bags and purses, perfume and candles
  92. I recycle and believe in supporting our environment instead of exploiting it to support us
  93. I have a ten speed that I ride a lot in summer
  94. I love soccer and football and basketball and hockey
  95. Baseball not so much (Sorry Sox)
  96. I go snowboarding with a group of friends in a state north of me, at least four times every winter
  97. My favorite time of day is twilight
  98. My favorite flowers are Gerber Daisies
  99. I am extremely hot natured
  100. I just found that 100 things is an incredibly hard number to full-fill.
