Chloe and the world of the blog

February 18, 2008

Dear Readership;

I know so far there are only two of you, however, I feel quite happy in calling you my “readership” since I sincerely doubt there are more than two, but am not quite ready to let my ego in on that secret.

First and formost I would like to say hello to Pokadots and Hiccups, who indirectly or maybe directly pointed their friend Barbtowards my blog. Thank you! I was begining to think I was floating in the nether-regions of cyberspace all by my lonesome.

To answer a few questions I was asked - I live in the 3rd largest city in the US. It is also known as “The Windy City”, or “The City of Big Shoulders” or “The Home of Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow.” I found the afore mentioned blog (Polkadots and Hiccups) by using the “next blog” feature here at WordPress.com. Goofy, I know. Perhaps a little naive. But honest, I saw the picture of the two of them and thought “Now there are two women I could totally hang with! I LOVE THE PINK IN THE HAIR!”

Seriously dear blogosphere, I am a blog virgin. Hell for that matter, I’m a computer virgin. I didn’t even own a computer until 2 years ago and the only reason I happened to become a computer owner then was because I was tired of keeping up with my budget by hand. Well, that and the fact that roomate number 15 was about to move out owing me several hundred dollars worth of rent he couldn’t pay, so I ended up with this computer instead.  Once my friend found out I had a computer, she bullied me day and night, threatened to bash down my door and sit on top of me performing spit torture until I agreed to put up a blog.  (Sorry Danika, the truth must be told). And so, here I am, in blogland.

I was also asked to put up some photos of my art work and I promise this is forth coming. I just have to get the space to post them. My friend Cher, whom I met through a mutual aquaintance, has her own server space and is helping me in finding a good host. She’s also agreed to sell some of my work through her Etsy shop.  So hopefully soon, images will be coming, though probably not on this space because I’m not really sure yet how the whole “You’ve used too much space” thing works.

All of that being said and now out of the way - my weekend was a total bust!

I worked on the mushiest night of the year and the tips were not what they normally are. I did manage to make bill money and a few extra dollars, but still I was highly disapointed that most of the diners could have cared less about the great meal and great service and were more concerned with pinching pennies. (Come on people! Do you know what a waitress’ actual salary is? Let me just say that if it weren’t for tippers, BIG TIPPERS, my twice -a- week- Venti Iced Coffee with Cream would become my once- a-month grande regular brew. OHMYGOD the horror!) And because it was a super busy night, the wait staff ended up not getting out until nearly 2:00 AM.

I worked Friday night as well, then went out with two girlfriends, who have boyfriends, but decided they felt sorry for me because I don’t. We went for drinks and a bit of dancing but I just felt completely under the weather, so when my other friends called to let me know that Wisconsin was under blizzard warning and our snowboarding trip was off, I was relieved.  I went home, got in the bed with my little cuddle-bunny and slept until about 3:00 PM Saturday.  I woke up long enough to take care of bathroom biz and get some tea, then crawled back in bed and have remained there until today.

I’m supposed to work tonight, but I’m not going to make it. Yes dear readers, I have succombed to the flu. (help me, i hurt). Its freezing cold here, even to me, the ice-queen and my furnace just doesn’t seem to be keeping up.  So, if you miss me, I’ll be over there, in the bed, with my big fuzzy slippers and my three layers of clothing, tissues in hand.

Love always

Chloe Jayne

    For a blog virgin, you pick your company mighty well. I’m the one currently non-Windy City blogger at blogrolled Moving in Stereo, although I try to get to the Really Big City as often as I can. Were we also a “next blog” find? We appreciate the link. Hope you’re feeling better too, Chloe Jayne.

    Love always, Moving in Stereo
